It’s a good night in Flagstaff, AZ! We are fortunate enough to be staying in an actual hotel tonight, a well deserved rest for the guys. We started the morning of with some of that good ole mountain dew as the riders climbed 15 miles up a steep mountain with roads that snaked on forever.
After the first climb, we hit a downhill that ran through an old mining town called Jerome. It was a diamond in the rough, full of life and rich with history. It was hard to believe that 5,000 people once lived in this little town carved out of the side of a mountain, but now only 500 call it home. Still, it looks to be lively with vacationers looking to get away for a bit.
After Jerome, the climbing did not let up. A short hike to Sedona for lunch and the mountain roads began to roll once again. Sedona, AZ was an awesome little town and they even had a street named after me! (Jordan St.). The guys managed to haul themselves and their bikes up what was the steepest climb we’ve seen yet, and may see the entire trip. Twenty-eight miles later we ended in Flagstaff, where the hotel hot tub felt more like a well-needed massage.
One more day down. One more mountain in the distance. One mile closer to Virginia!
“The earth trembles at his glance; the mountains burst into flame at his touch.”-Psalm 104:32
